New Years Commitment 1/1/2017

How do I experience significant growth in Christ in the coming year? By engaging in deeper relationships. Listen as John Motley discusses the need for greater connection in the church today.

“The Missions” Series

When we think of missions, we usually begin at Matthew 28 and the Great Commission. But is that where missions truly begins? This first message in the series “The Mission” explores God’s mission from before the foundation of the world and the creation mandate in Genesis 1 and 2.

The Mission and the Image of God part 1

The second message in the Mission series examines how the image of God in man has been placed there to enable us to fulfill His mission. How does that image affect us in our work, and how is work part of His mission? Listen in to part one of the Mission and the Image of God.

The Mission and the Image of God part 2

Second message in the two part look at the image of God and His mission. The Image of God in man reflects His relational nature, yet this seems to be one of the most difficult areas to portray Christ. This message looks at the absolute importance of our relationships to the mission of God in this world. Listen in as we look at how relationships are part of our mission.

Making Disciples

The previous messages in this series have looked at the image of God in man and the radical result is the fall upon that image and our desire to engage in mission with God. Since that time, the Scriptures record the details of God’s person mission, through Jesus Christ, to redeem, reconcile, and restore man to that glorifying image and continue that mission. In this message we see Christ’s mission statement for His Church. What is that mission statement? Listen as we hear God speak on the subject of Making Disciples.

Overcoming Sin

A sermon from Elder Andre Nelson examines our need and some of the tools for overcoming sin.

What is Essential? 1 John 1:1-4

Beginning a new series in the book of first John entitled “How Do I Know?”. This first sermon examines the essential truth concerning Jesus Christ and those who know Him. John gives testimony to the central element of the Christian faith, the person and work of Jesus Christ.
Walking in the Light 1 John 1:5-10
God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. Therefor, walking in darkness means not walking in the with God and His people. Listen as we discuss how sin can break fellowship with both God and other believers as we continue to examine the book of 1 John in the series “How Do I Know?”

How Do I Know I’m Forgiven: Part 1

Many question at one point or another whether they truly can be forgiven. Others wrestle with why they are constantly falling into sin and failure. This first message of two parts deals with the gospel of forgiveness in Jesus Christ and our complete dependence upon Him for forgiveness. Taken from the text of 1 John 1:-2:1 we see that those who confess their sins are promised forgiveness in Christ.

How Do I Know I’m Forgiven: Part 2

Needing forgiveness is common to all individuals, yet not obvious to all. This message looks at the purpose of the crucifixion as a means of sacrifice on behalf of mankind from both a biblical and church historical perspective. Does man need forgiveness, or are all individuals forgiven by Christ already? Listen in as we learn from 1 John 2:1-2.

Knowing Him and Keeping His Commandments 1 John 2:3-11

As John continues his examination of how a person knows they know God, his attention turns to the test of obedience. Does God care how we live? How can one who is both saved and sanctified by grace live under commandments? Listen in as we explore the nature of obedience and the child of God.

Encouragement For Those Who are in Christ 1 John 2:12-17

Anyone who is honest knows the struggles and reality of sin. Everyone needs to hear assurance amid this reality. The best place to find encouragement is in reflecting on the victories that God has already accomplished in your life. This gives true strength for the journey ahead. Join us as we reflect upon John’s encouraging words from 1 John 2:12-17.

Maintaining Unity 1 John 2: 18-21

This message in the series “How Do I Know?” examines the divisive Spirit of Antichrist as a cause of breaking unity in a church body. This spirit denies core truths concerning the person of Jesus Christ and places itself as an authority over Him and the Scriptures. How do we address such a spirit? Follow along as we examine this pertinent and timely issue.

Maintaining Unity by Pursuing the Same Things 1 Corinthians 1:10-17

Approaching the topic of unity through the teaching of Paul, this message examines how our preferences for certain teachers and an individualistic mindset can harm unity. Bryce Koehn, a member of New Life, shares some key principles from the letter to the Corinthian church for maintaining unity in the church.

Family Patterns 1 John 3:4-10

How do we address sin in an inclusive society, one which knows only the biblical command to not judge? Listen in as we look at the two families John discusses in our message “Family Patterns.”

The Evidence of Love 1 John 3:11-23

Jesus said, “They will know you are my disciples by your love for one another.” Yet, we struggle in the church today to display this true love. If we do not love our brothers and sisters in Christ then there is something wrong in our lives. This is the message John shares in 1 John 3:11-23 and the evidence of love.

Not all Christian Teachings are Christian 1 John 3:24-4:6

It seems the Church has a new highest authority. While the Church has historically went to Scripture as the final authority for all matters of doctrine and godly living, today the individual Christian leans more on what they refer to as the “leading of the Spirit”. But, is this the true authority of Christianity? Listen in as we look at the distinctions between true Spirit led Christianity and false spirits from 1 John 3:24-4:6.

Why Should I Love Them? 1 John 4:7-21

What is Unity in the Church based upon? As John has already told us, it includes areas of doctrine, attitudes, and actions. In this passage, John comes back to the attitude of love. He’s already told us that love acts, but now we get the motivation behind the love. This will help us love even the

unlovely among us.

Overcoming the World 1 John 5:1-5

Is there hope that we can ever truly live a victorious Christian life? There are days when all of us might wonder that. In this passage from the book of 1 John we see the description of what living that life looks like. Questioning the modern definition of overcoming is a huge step toward assurance of victory. Listen in as we examine what it means to Overcome the World.

A Sure Testimony 1 John 5:6-12

How Important is the topic of the nature of Jesus Christ? Why is this necessary for faith? Is it simply a matter for theological debate, or is it essential to salvation? The early church saw this as a central issue of the faith and went to great lengths to clarify what true Christianity believes concerning who Jesus is. Listen in as Andy Liebelt examines what John states concerning the true testimony concerning Jesus Christ.

I Know That I Know 1 John 5:13-21

One of the passages many Christians turn to for assurance of their salvation is 1 John 5:13. However, there is much more to this passage than assurance of salvation. Namely, assurance is our prayer because of that salvation? How is this? And, to what extent? Listen in to this last message of the series “How Do I Know?”

Fighting the Right Fight

In an age where relationships are ended with a click of a button, the Christian is called to display godly relationships. This series will examine how we maintain relationships, especially in our local congregations. The first message, taken from Ephesians chapter 6, examines how many of us are fighting the wrong fight, in the wrong way, and alone.

Fight As If You Believe

Psalm 139 is a beautiful poem about God’s character. Yet, it contains a prayer that God would destroy the authors enemies! This message contemplates God’s omniscience, omnipresence, and omnipotence, as well as his sovereign rule over all things, including your relationships.

Pursuing Because We Were Pursued – Fight For It Message 3

Continuing in our study of reconciliation and healing broken relationships, this message transitions into the practical steps of fighting for, not in, relationships. The reason we do this is because we have a reconciling God who pursued us in order to restore a broken relationship. Listen as we seek to display an accurate gospel in everyday life.

Pursuing Reconciliation as a Body

Finishing the series on reconciliation, this final message reviews the mindset and the practices necessary to maintain godly relationships. This process, at times, must become a “whole body” endeavor. However, we must be careful in how we apply this important step. While essential, it is a step to be taken in love and humility. (While the previous message did not record, there is sufficient review here to help you undertake the step of taking one or two witnesses in this message.)
